As a parish, we invite you to join us as we learn how to surrender to Christ in faith this Lent. An
obstacle to real growth in Christ is self-reliance. Surrender is the antidote to self-reliance. Pick up
your copy of Crux: Daily Lenten Meditations for $5 after mass or at the cluster office and begin to
learn how to rely more on Christ than yourself through the daily reflections and Scripture passages to
help you pray. You will read through the entirety of the Gospel of Mark, reflecting on your identity as
God’s beloved child, and respond through prayer and practical action. Designed for individuals,
families, and parish groups, Crux helps you unite physical and spiritual disciplines—fasting,
exercise, reading, and prayer—into one transformative Lenten experience that leads you closer to
Christ.
You’re welcome to follow along at home on your own. Families can take advantage of the weekly
family section, which is a helpful way for families to keep the season of Lent centered on the loving
sacrifice of Jesus.
We will also offer weekly small group meetings, complete with prayer, a discussion, and a weekly
video with Fr. Columba. If you wish to participate in the weekly small group meetings offered during
Lent, there are two opportunities: St. Paul, Newhall on Mondays from 6:00 – 7:30 pm beginning
Monday, February 23 OR at Immaculate Conception, Van Horne on Tuesdays 9:00 – 10:30 am
beginning Tuesday, February 24. Sign up sheets for the weekly group meetings are in the back of
each parish. Please sign up by February 15. Ash Wednesday begins on Wednesday, February 18!
