And when Paul laid his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them …
(Acts 19:6)

Confirmation is the final Sacrament of Initiation into the Catholic Church, along with Baptism and Holy Eucharist. Confirmation completes the grace of Baptism by a special outpouring of the gifts of the Holy Spirit, which seal or "confirm" the baptized in union with Christ and equip them for active participation in the worship and apostolic life of the Church (CCC: 1285).

Confirmation for Youth

High school youth who are in their freshman year of high school begin their journey in Year I Confirmation.  High school youth who are in their sophomore year of high school will complete their journey during Year II Confirmation and receive the sacrament in the Spring (April/May).  During these years of the preparation journey, the youth are encouraged to begin living their Catholic faith as an adult, serving in their church community through the ministries of Server, Lector/Commentator, Gift Bearer, or Usher, while continuing their formation studies in scripture and doctrine.  In Year II Confirmation, the candidates are to complete two service projects and complete the service project paper.  Preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation begins in ninth grade and, if requirements are fulfilled, is received at the end of tenth grade.

Confirmation for Adults

If you are over the age of 18 and have not been confirmed in the Catholic Church but are interested, please contact RCIA coordinators Dennis & Anita Kimm at kimm@southslope.net.  This is celebrated at the Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday.
